Choosing correct oil according to your doshas can bring balance to your body. If you are a Vata body type, then use warm oil like sesame or almond oil, for pitta doshas opt for more cooling oil like coconut oil and to pacify kapha dosha use sesame oil or dry massage.

Swedana:

Swedana is an ayurvedic practice that is a steam bath therapy that incorporates herbal steam to remove toxins from your body. In Sanskrit, Sweda means ‘to perspire’ or ‘sweat’. Swedana is an ayurvedic steam bath therapy that is generally done after the process of abhyanga. The prime objective of this therapy is to dilate the blood vessels of the body that helps in removing toxins from the body. This is generally performed after the oil massage. There are primarily two types of Swedana

Bashpa Swedana:

It is practiced after the full body oil massage, then the person is made to sit in the cabin, your eyes are covered from wet cotton, and after that, steam from herbal deconcotion is released. The person is made to sit in the chamber until your body started sweating nicely.

Nadi swedana:

In nadi Swedana is steam is put in a tube; it is more like penetrating type. In nadi swedana, it is more focused on your stiff joints.

Shirodhara:

Shirodhara is a classical ayurvedic practice that involves gently pouring of warm herbal oil over your forehead or other liquid on your forehead. This procedure is highly relaxing and effective in promoting sound sleep. The pouring of warm oil stimulates the marma point in the forehead that improves blood circulation and soothes the hypothalamus hence regulates the function of the pituitary gland, which induces the sound sleep.

Netra tarpan:

Eyes are known as a window to your soul, and one of the busiest and overworked muscles of the body. In today’s world, with the overuse of computers and other electronic devices, it is imperative to take care of your eyes and give extra nutrition with Netra tarpan. Netra tarpan is done by creating a pool of ghee or clarified butter over your eyes in the frames created using whole wheat flour paste. Hrud Basti:

Hrud Basti is referred to as hrid or heart in Sanskrit and Basti referred to as a container. This treatment involves pouring of warm herbal oil over your heart in a dough container. The medicated oil is poured for at least twenty minutes in that dough pool, slowly it seeps into the skin and heal the heals your heart. It works on healing emotional heart and releasing those negative emotions from your heart that is stored in your body. After removing oil and dough, a gentle massage is given to the patient.
